Who is the Most Affordable Urgent Care in Meridian, Idaho? We Called Them So You Didn’t Have To!

Meridian, Idaho Self-Pay Urgent Care Cost Comparison

When evaluating cost for urgent care services in Meridian, Idaho, people will often call a clinic to see what their self-pay pricing is for certain conditions as prices can vary widely from one company to another. We attempted to contact a variety of clinics in town to ask what the cost would be for a healthy adult with a sore throat who would need a rapid strep test. We acknowledged getting an exact price for a medical issue is difficult as many factors can contribute to the price, like a complex issue. A sore throat could be a cold, strep throat or something complex like cancer or an abscess. These are billed at different rates but you don’t know until you see the patient.

We asked their self-pay percentage, the cost for a standard visit for someone with a sore throat who is otherwise healthy and the cost for a rapid strep test is. We received a variety of answers.

Urgent Care #1

  • Self-Pay Discount: ~20%; couldn’t give exact percentage

  • Cost for New Patient: $202

  • Rapid Strep Test Price: Unknown

We called and quickly talked to a nice lady who stated their self-pay rate was, “About 20% but I’m not quite sure what the exact amount is.” The cost for a new patient was $202. She also gave the cost for an established patient: $165. She was not able to give us the cost for a rapid strep test.

Urgent Care #2

  • Self-Pay Discount: Unknown; call once you get the bill for self-pay discount

  • Cost for New Patient: $125 upfront; but not the final cost

  • Rapid Strep Test Price: Unknown

When we contacted urgent care #2, a receptionist quickly answered the phone and was happy to answer questions. She stated there was an initial $125 upfront cost but once you get your final bill, you contact the billing department and they will apply the self-pay discount. However, she wasn’t sure what the percentage was, how much a rapid strep test cost or what the exact cost for a a new patient was, but it was “more than $125".”

    Urgent Care #3

  • Self-Pay Discount: 30%; applied when you get the final bill

  • Cost for New Patient: $75 upfront; but not the final cost

  • Rapid Strep Test Price: $45

Urgent care #3 receptionist answered the phone when 1-2 rings. She stated the patient pays $75 upfront at the time of the visit but they’ll get a final bill in the mail. That bill would be the total amount and a 30% discount is applied then but she couldn’t give us a total for a new patient of moderate complexity. The rapid strep test would cost $45 before any discounts were applied and this was in addition to the visit/evaluation itself.
